Meet Our Library Staff

J.F. Kennedy Librarian

Hello, I'm Glen Martinez, the Librarian at John F. Kennedy. I would enjoy meeting you in person during our school's Back to School Night and Open House.

Originally from Northern California, I first came to Los Angeles to attend UCLA (BA English Literature, 1994).  I received my Masters in Education from CSUN (MA, 2003) and my Masters in Library and Information Studies from San Jose State University (MLIS, 2006). I hold a Clear Single Subject Credential (English) and a Clear Library Media Service Credential, both issued by the State of California.

My first job out of college was that of a story analyst for a talent and lit agency, fulfilling my desire to read, read, and read. I've been an educator, as a librarian or English Literature and Compostion teacher, for about 12 years.

Professional Memberships: Los Angeles Library Association, California School Library Association, California Readers, American Library Association

Other Memberships: Wattles Community Farm (my 12th year!), EarthWatch, Sierra Club, UCLA Alumni Association

J. F. Kennedy Library Assistant

Hi, my name is Justin Barghi and I'm the Library Assistant at Kennedy High. I'm currently enrolled at CSUN and working towards a degree in the field of psychology. When I'm not doing homework or reading books, I enjoy helping students and making Kennedy Library a great experience for the school.

Our Library's Mission

The mission of the J. F. Kennedy Media Library Media Program is to ensure that all students and staff have the skills and opportunity to access, evaluate, and use information. The Library Media Specialists play a critical role in the introduction of new learning technologies, support the curriculum and the teaching of information skills in a positive learning environment in which all students can become independent, lifelong learners.

We believe that it is important for the Library Media Program to maintain its traditional role of preserving and disseminating information while incorporating advances in technology for information access. Our goal is to help students become productive citizens and participants in a rapidly changing society.
